KEC promises more Collaborations with University Library

The University Library held its capacity building nonresidential retreat from Tuesday, 29th November to Thursday, 1st December, 2022 at the main Library of the University. Recognizing the critical role e-learning plays in promoting effective library services, the University Librarian invited the KNUST E-Learning Centre (KEC) to orient its staff on the activities of the E-Learning Centre and the way forward for effective collaboration between the Library and the E-Learning Centre. In this regard, day 2 of the program saw Prof. Eric Appau Asante, the Director of the Centre do a presentation on the topic: “The Operations of the E-Learning Centre: What the Library Must Know”.

Prof. Asante, in his presentation, highlighted some of the activities that the E-Learning Centre has engaged in and continues to engage in. He mentioned that the Centre has organized a series of training and capacity building sessions for various levels of staff of the university. “We continue to assist as many lecturers as are interested to conduct their classes online both synchronously and asynchronously. We have also positioned ourselves to provide technical support services such as streaming for university wide activities”, he mentioned. Prof Asante then told participants that the Centre plans to organize a tailored training session for the staff of the Library that will strengthen collaboration between the Library and the Centre.

In his concluding remarks, the Director of the E-Learning Centre called for more avenues for collaboration between the two offices. He reiterated his utmost readiness to partner the Library in its endeavors as collaborations between the two offices will promote effective teaching and learning in the University. Staff of the Library thanked the Director very much and mentioned that collaborations between the two offices is long overdue.

They highlighted important areas for close partnership such as the provision of more online learning resources. The University Librarian, Dr. Samuel Nii Kotei, expressed his appreciation to the Director for his presentation and noted that the lines of action that were picked from the presentation would be pursued to their successful end.
